My doctor, well my fill in Doctor (because my real one is out of town till the end of the month) called me today and told me some troubling news.
Let me go back a little bit. So when I was like 23 weeks pregnant, I asked Dr if I could do the glucose test early, not that I had any physical concerns, I mean I feel great. But when I was pregnant with Lucy, my levels were high, but not high enough to have to do anything about it, and since I am a bit heavier with this pregnancy, I just wanted to ease my mind. So she said we could go ahead with the test. I passed, but once again my levels were kind of high. She tells me that I am going to have to take it again at the normal 28 weeks just to be sure about everything, but there was no concern at that time.
Last week I went in for my regular check up and my "fill in" doctor (she is a little intense) told me that it was time to take my test again. and they also wanted to do an A1C blood test, to see what my blood sugar has been doing for the last 3 months. So I went in and had all my tests done. Well I got a phone call today from the Nurse telling me that all my blood tests looked really good, except my glucose was still kind of high. ugh... so she proceeds to tell me that they want me to go up to the hospital and do the 3 hour glucose test. And I am not happy about it. I had to do the 3 hour one with Lucy, because I screwed up and ate before the one hour one. Needless to say i am do NOT want to do that again. Making a pregnant woman go through that is torture! I really feel like I am okay, and this is going to be the same story as with Lucy. Just high... but not high enough. I already watch what I eat, and I take my vitamins everyday. I just don't want to do this, because I have a feeling that it is not going to tell them anything.
So my question to you guys, who are reading this... has anyone had gestational diabetes, and are there any physical signs that I should have? Like light headedness, or tiredness, I don't know? Like I said, I feel completely normal. some advice would be great.

I failed my 1-hour test with both pregnancies. I passed the 3-hour with Anna Kate but since I had sugar in my urine they had me go to an endocrinologist anyway. I did a low-carb diet and tested by blood after every meal... Not fun but doable. With Isaac I refused the three-hour test and did the low carb diet and blood testing again. So I guess I don't have any advice. It was worth it to me to really change my diet and not have a giant baby! Isaac was three weeks early and 7 pounds! I didn't have any other symptoms. Good luck!
I failed both tests with my pregnancy and had to do the blood testing, low-carb diet and see the endocrinologist as well. There weren't any other symptoms just high glucose if I ate a lot of carbs or sugar. Really, like Jenna said, it's the big babies that are the big symptom. Both mine boys have come early and they have been "big" for their gestation age, so I don't like to think how big they would have been if I went full term. I would say at least wait until your normal doctor gets back to ask her opinion if you trust her more and maybe just go lowcarb diet to be on the safe side. Not fun...but hang in there!!
Wish I could help! keep us posted!
I think a little time is worth knowing for sure that everything is ok. I worry about my baby everyday and can only imagine what it would be like if there was a chance something was not right. Good luck deciding.
Pray about it! Since I haven't experienced it , that is the only advice I can give.
