In the LDS religion, when babies are born they are blessed. What this essentially means is a worthy Priesthood holder (usually the Father of the baby) says a prayer asking Heavenly Father to bless the child and presents the name of that child. So these are the pictures that my Mom took form Jake's special day!

we are so grateful for all who could make it. It was indeed a special moment for our little family. Jake is such a blessing to us. A special thanks to those who traveled long distances, we have so much fun seeing everyone!

He is staring to smile and sleeping pretty good. We are finally getting over the colic at night, wahoo!

New years Resolutions

1. resolve or determination: to make a firm resolution to do something.
2. the act of resolving or determining upon an action or course of action, method, procedure, etc. the mental 3. state or quality of being resolved or resolute; firmness of purpose.

Those are the meanings of Resolution. Today I have been really pondering on how I want to better myself for the year 2012 and after. I have made a few goals for myself and I will go over them in a second. Right now I want to discuss this word. New Years Resolutions... people make them and then they break them. I really don't want this year to be about failing. I want to be better. Last year was a pretty good year, except not really financially. We started off the year jobless and a miscarriage. but we are ending it pretty good.

Tyler quit his job at Convergys, he felt inspired to for some reason, plus they weren't being very nice. But he does have a job lined up, the downside is that it doesn't start until later this month. Its okay, because we have faith that we will be okay financially. Which brings me to my first goal:

Faith. I am going to be better at being a Latter Day Saint. 2011 was a year of laziness for Ty and I. I hate to admit it, but we rarely went to church. We are going to go to church as often as we can this year. And in order to be able to wake up with the spirit, I will go to bed with a clean house every Saturday night. I am going to fast every fast Sunday and Fast with a Purpose. I am going to read the lessons before hand so that I can get the most out of my Sunday. AND We will be FULL tithe payers this year. I believe this will help me achieve my next goals...

Be a Better Mom and Wife. I have a problem with patience and Temper. I will be the first to admit that. I know that Lucy probably gets her temper from me. Tyler is such a patient and kind man, and I am so grateful that he puts up with us. I am going to try and be more loving to my family, show them everyday in some way that they are special to me. I want to do more fun things as a family and learn to be grateful for what I have and really appreciate every day. I am going to stop looking forward and be in the present.

Weight Loss. yes I am going to lose weight this year. No I am NOT going to fail because as long as I am not gaining, I will be proud of myself. In order to lose weight I am going to take it one day at a time. I will not get discouraged if I have an off day. I will not say "Starting Monday" but I will try every day. I am not going to make a weight loss goal... I want to get to where I am comfortable in my own skin, and where I love the way my clothes fit. I will work-out whenever I can (its hard having two kids) and I will continue with my Diabetes Diet that I was on while I was pregnant. I have found that it really isn't that hard, and I saw results. I only gained 20lbs in my whole term, and Lost every bit of the weight gained within the first week. The last thing is, that I will never over-stuff myself. Portion control is the key. I know this will be hard. There will be days where I will sneak in a cupcake or a cookie, but i know that if I wake up every morning willing to try again, I will succeed.

And that is pretty much the big things I am promising to myself. 2012 is going to be great. I can feel it. The time for change is now, and I will be better.

I woke up this morning with a new outlook on my life. I am filled with hope and determination that I will achieve everything I want for myself. I know that in doing all of these things I will be a much happier Bonnie.

Christmas EARLY?

Yep, That's right!

Since Christmas falls on a Sunday this year, Tyler and I have made the decision to do presents early. (yes we have presents, none from us, ALL from our parents!) We really wanted this Christmas to be about Our Savior's Birth and Teaching Lucy the TRUE meaning. So since we have church on Sunday and it is at 11, kinda in the middle of morning festivities, we are going to do the material parts of it tomorrow. SO that means Santa is making a SPECIAL trip to our house tonight!! EEK! we are so excited.

This may seem so unconventional to most people, but hey.... we can do what we want, and we are that tight with Santa!

I know my little girl already turned 4, but today she had her 4 yr well check. So how is my BIG girl doing?

well she is a whopping 31 pounds and 41 1/2 inches tall! haha... that means she is still tall and skinny. She is doing really great developmentally, and right on her target for her age. I can't believe she is 4. Life changed so much when we were blessed with her. She is such a sweetheart with a little 13yr old attitude. I love her to pieces! Thanks for always keeping us on our toes

These people are amazing. To take time out of their day to do something for my child. I am so touched by this, i have been emotional all day over it. Maybe I am just a baby, but seriously. Lucy has such great Aunties and Uncles, and friends. I know there were others who ran also for her, and a big thank you to them too. Tyler and I wish so badly that we could have joined with you in the fight for Arthritis. We have been discussing maybe coming up next year for it. Hopefully you all will join us and run again. THANK YOU again, Crystal, Jason, Shanna, Jonathan, Liz, and Scott. I love you guys.

having a new baby is tough. But there is nothing that compares to that little body snuggled against yours, and the feeling you get when he stares into your eyes. This week I am brought back to when Lucy was a baby, and it was hard to get her into a sleeping routine. I think this is why I ended up going home to Btown for a few weeks. I was sleep deprived and needed my momma. Having Tyler's Mom here was the greatest blessing. We were able to catch up on some much needed Zzzz's, and she left with my apartment clean. I am so grateful for her and her selflessness last week. I hope that someday I will be able to do that for my daughter or daughter-in-law... woah... that is weird to think about!
Needless to say Jake is not a real fantastic sleeper. At the most we get 2 hours out of him. This is hard for Tyler as he works late and though he is awesome at taking turns with the feedings, I feel bad and want him to get his rest. But for this week and part of next, I also need my rest as I still have school to attend and study for, which means, I can't take naps during the day. Finals next Monday and Tuesday are going to be killer, especially since I haven't been to class since I had Jake. I have been relying on what my teachers post to the web sight. I have a lot of catching up to do in the next few days in order to be prepared to take my finals. But I know there was some reason that Jake was born 2 1/2 weeks early, and I know that The Lord will help me through the next week of my life.
Also... He has some gnarly bum rash, we have been trying everything (changing often, bathing often, air dry, desitin) if there is anything else that you have tried and have had success... PLEASE SHARE. I hate to see his little bum so raw. Lucy went through this the first month too, my kids have sensitive skin. The doc says its normal and to just keep doing what I am doing, but if you have some advice to give, I would love it. Like does "butt paste" work better than desitin? or should I try anything else?
I am a little overwhelmed right now, but that was to be expected. Christmas is coming, and we have no money, so there is a little depression there. There will be no gifts this year, so we will be focusing on the True meaning of the season, which is how we prefer it anyway. Tyler and I don't need anything. I just wish we could do something more for Lucy. I hope we can find somewhere pretty to look at some lights, I have really wanted to do that this year. We are so blessed in many other ways. Jacob is such an awesome addition to our little family. We can't wait for my family to meet him in Jan. I am so happy and excited that my parents and Doug will be able to attend his blessing on the 15th. I wish more of them could come, but I totally understand the circumstances. Sometimes it sucks living so far away.
So this ended up being a PURGE of my mind. Sorry about that. but this thing is more like a journal so you get what you get! lol. Love you all and I am so grateful for family today.

Jake's birth story

Okay, its late and I should be sleeping but i wanted to write this really quick since people have been asking.

Birth Story of Jacob Eugene:

Tuesday night I started having some strong braxton Hicks that were about 6-8 minutes apart. So we decided to go into the hospital. They decided to admit me since I was dilated to a 4 and about 80% effaced. but then about 2 hours later they checked me again and I hadn't progressed, so they released me.
I labored pretty much all day Wed the same way. my contractions never got real regular and still never hurt. We went to bed that night and at about 330am I woke up with a painful contraction, and went to the bathroom and had some light bleeding, so I woke up Tyler and said it was time! So we called our neighbor and she graciously came over and slept on our couch so we could go to the hospital. We got there at about 4am and they checked me and I was at a 5 and 90% effaced. Baby's head was very low and locked into position, so they admitted me again. I walked the halls and bounced on a ball and did everything I could to progress. They came in an hour later and I was at a 6! So they said for sure I was going to have this baby today. So they decided to go ahead and get my epidural hooked in so I would have relief from the pain. Unfortunately it didn't matter how much they pumped into me, it was NOT working. I had no relief. at about 945am Doctor Wellman came in and broke my water. ouch... she came back in at like 1030am and checked me and I wasn't quite all the way to a 10 but said if I wanted to push I could. at like 1040 I felt that first STRONG urge to push. They all came in and the contraction started.... and with that, he was here! Haha... yes ladies and gentlemen, my son was born with only 5 minutes of pushing. Jacob Eugene Haas was born at 1045am on November 17th 2011. He was 6lbs 15oz and was 19 3/4 inches long.
Since my placenta didn't come out right away, they had to manually pull it out, this process took about 45 minutes. 45 minutes of pure pain and torture. Then they put a stitch in me and that was that. I was able to hold my baby boy and he was absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect moment I had been waiting for. He was healthy and perfect in every way. Tyler, Lucy and I could not be happier.

2 weeks to go... maybe

Maybe you are all getting sick of me updating, but I have no family in town to talk to haha. Another appointment today and got some interesting news. Dr Wellman wasn't going to check my cervix today, but then we decided to go ahead and do it. I am now dilated to a good 3 and 50% effaced. That means, if you remember from Wed. that in less than a week I went from no effacement to 50% and dilated another 1 1/2 cm. That is pretty darn quick. She seemed to think that this baby will come earlier than the 28th, even could come any day! i am now becoming nervous. LOL! we just got everything settled for the 28th. Grandma Haas flies in on the 29th. welp. I guess babies have their own agenda and neither I or anyone else can tell him when to come. Tyler is super excited and is waiting by his phone at work, he is hoping he is on the phone when I text him and he gets to tell the customer, "can you call back and talk to someone else, my wife is in labor" haha... We do however have such great friends that are willing and ready whenever we need them to take Lucy, so at least I don't have to worry about that!

My one hope is that he either comes before Lucy's birthday (like in the next day or two) or waits till next week when I don't have any school for Thanksgiving break. But we shall see. Either way, Jacob is coming when he is ready!

OH, and I also weighed in 3lbs lighter! Go me... LOL

37 weeks

HOLY COW! Look at that belly! I have to do double takes when i look in the mirror.

I am getting more sore by the day. Although I have only gained the minimum, I feel huge. Its a good thing they are inducing me... I do NOT want to go late with this belly. His head is so low, Tyler thinks I will come early, but I HIGHLY doubt it. 2 weeks and 2 days left and we will have our baby boy to snuggle!!

Jacob Update

So I had my Doctor appointment today and we went over the ultrasound results from Monday. The good news is Baby Boy is doing GREAT! All of my non-stress tests have been awesome, baby moves so much and is very active. In the last month 1/2 I have only gained 1 pound. Which means I have only gained 20lbs this whole pregnancy! But Baby is growing awesomely (word?) He is measuring at 6lbs 8oz. He is head down, his head is really low, and I am now 1 1/2 cm dilated.

The other good news? Well I am being INDUCED on the 28th of November. I will go in Monday night and hopefully have a baby by the end of Tuesday!

I know I was excited about doing things naturally, but this way Tyler can schedule his Paternity leave and His mom can schedule her flight and won't have to worry about someone being able to watch Lucy at a moments notice. This is only 5 days early, but he is already 61/2 lbs and there is still 3 weeks left... so they are just going to go ahead and induce labor to make sure he doesn't get REALLY big.

The bad news? well I have a test on the 2nd of December. BOO! School will be interesting, but thankfully all of my teachers have been pretty understanding so far, so I'm hoping they will all be on board with this and help me out.

Well... that's it!

aches and pains

I know this comes with the territory of being pregnant, but i am serious, I don't remember it being like this with Lucy. So if you don't care to listen to my complaining, just skip this post.

I am really trying to keep up with my exercising but it is super hard when I can't hardly walk. I'm pretty sure gravity is my worst enemy right now. Every time I stand up or even try to get up, it hurts so bad i just really would rather lay down until I go into labor.I have never felt this pain before. With Lucy I had a lot of back pains, but not with this little guy. Its all in my pelvic floor, maybe he has a really big head, but I cannot wait to get him out of there. The thing is, that i don't know exactly what it is from, am I weaker now than I was with Lucy? Are my muscles not strong enough to support him? Or is it that everything is just stretched out from having Lucy? If anyone has any advice to give on this subject i would really love it if you would share. I still have 4 weeks left and I don't want to be completely miserable. Plus I still have to muster up the strength to go to school 3 times a week.

Ultrasound tomorrow, and non-stress tests on Tuesday and Thursday, and Dr. apt on Wednesday. Busy week ahead, i will post again soon!

35 weeks

Only 5 More weeks to go!

Had my Doc appointment yesterday, and I am dialated to 1cm. Its not a huge deal. It could stay that way for several weeks. I have been having a lot more Braxton Hicks contractions, but that is normal too. Just praying this baby stays in there until at least his due date on Dec 3rd. If he comes any earlier it will really mess up my school schedule. I have been working hard this semester and I don't want it to go to waste.

I have only gained 1 pound in the last 4 weeks, so that is good. Baby is still on track, I am measuring 35 weeks. He is head down, so hopefully he stays there. We get to have a thorough ultrasound on Monday Nov 7th to see his weight and such, so that will be fun! I am getting to the uncomfortable part. Back pains, laying down seems to be the only comfortable position. I am still sleeping really well. Doc is impressed with my diet so far, says I am doing really good, in fact too good. she told me to add in some more sugars at night because my morning numbers are too low.

We are all excited for Halloween on Monday, Lucy is going to be a Rockstar, Tyler is going to be Meyhem from the AllState commercials and I am going to be a .....Pumpkin :/ yes. A pumpkin. lol. Pictures will come after. Love you all!

Little Miss Home-ec

We bought Tyler some jeans at Costco the other day, and this is the story of my life. NO... I am not going to rag on my husband. Just simply stating the facts. You know Tyler, he is the shortest in his family. So we always get him X-30 pants. (its hard to find 29s) so every pair of pants that we have ever gotten him, he has complained about how long they are and he HATES walking on his pants. so after much debate he decided he needed to find someone to hem his pants. well I was like, that's going to cost us more money, and who are you going to get to do it? Do you know anyone in town? Of course he said no. So last night I jokingly said, If I had a sewing machine, I could hem your pants for the rest of your life! Well can you guess what happened next?

He has been donating plasma for the last month trying to save up to buy a nice computer for graduate school, this is going to take him like 15 weeks of donating to get enough, but he is doing it. But last night he got the idea that he was going to buy me a sewing machine. So he took the envelope out with his money in it, and we headed to walmart. This made me feel really bad, I didn't want him to spend that blood money on me.... but I guess he was fed up with too long pants. So my sweet husband, being the giving man that he is, bought me my first sewing machine with his own money. At first I was like, well this isn't really a gift for me, because I will be using it to fix his clothes. but the more I think about it, the more excited I get to have one! I have endless possibilities to what I can make! My mind is already coming up with all sorts of ideas! i have plans to make a boppy cover, hem some pants (of course), make an apron for Lucy for her play kitchen, a pillow case for her bed... and so much more. Its not a real fancy machine, but it is fancy enough to do what I need it to do,, and I am so excited to start my projects! So Tyler, THANK YOU so much for this gift. You are an amazing husband and you never cease to amaze me with your generosity and kindness. I love you more each day.

Getting Crafty

I finally finished the wall hangings for the kids' room. I bought the letters and then modge-podged scrapbook paper onto them and then sanded down the edges. Lucy's I could hang with nails because there was already holes in the back of the letters. But Jacob's I had to attach ribbon on them. Tyler hasn't made up his mind whether he likes it or not, he might drill hols in the back to make them like Lucy's. We shall see. BUT, this project is DONE!

We also went out to the storage unit today and got all the baby stuff (front carrier, bathtub, bouncer, toys, etc...) So we are now ready. The only thing left to do is pack the hospital bag, but I will probably wait a couple more weeks to do that.

I am pretty proud of myself, I am not very crafty or creative, but i think I did pretty good :)

Corn Maze!

This was our second attempt to go to the corn maze/ pumpkin patch. We tried going Saturday but it was way too windy and cold, so we went again last night and it was perfect!

Our friends Steve and Mckenna came with us!

Lucy had so much fun! she led us through the maze and giggled and laughed the whole time! Its so good to see her run and laugh and play like a normal child!

We went on this tractor ride, boy was it a RIDE! The guy went nuts, over hills around in circles! Mckenna and I both were holding our tummies trying not to pee our pants, (she is 7 months preggo) LOL! Lucy, Tyler and Steve loved it!

Then we picked out two pumpkins at the pumpkin patch and drove home. I am so glad that we get to go out and do fun things like this. Lucy is at the age where she just loves to go out and do things. It was such a great night! Happy FALL!

GD update

So this whole new diet thing isn't as hard as I thought it would be. Although now I think I am going through some withdrawls. I have basically cut out ALL sugar. If you know me, you know I am an ice cream, chocolate, candy lovin' fool. But I really can't indulge this time, not for me, but for the sake of the baby. Oh the things we do for our children. Besides sugar I have cut my carbs WAY back also. I only eat like 30 carbs at a meal, and if you didn't know, that is like one piece of bread and a cup of milk, like literally a measured cup. Not the full glass that I am use to drinking. That has been the hardest thing about this. When I am pregnant, I LOVE milk. seriously, nothing tastes better to me. Anything that I eat like Jelly or syrup, is all sugar free. My only vice right now is sugar free chocolate pudding. And even that counts as carbs, so I have to plan out when i can have one of those. I went in to my DR on Thursday and i didn't gain any weight! So that was good news, right? no weight in two weeks. so i have in all gained only 16 pounds so far in this pregnancy, and i am 33 weeks now. I am checking my blood sugar 4 times a day. the funny thing is, well funny to me, is that some of my numbers were too low! I had some that were below 60 and they got real concerned. They said if it continues they may take me off the metformin and just do diet control. I guess that means I am doing a good job eating right?
This whole thing has taught me a lot about eating though. I cook better meals for my family. We have never had so many veggies! And Lucy loves it. It has inspired Tyler to watch his carb intake as well, and start exercising again. Hopefully this will give us the head start we need to get healthy and skinny after Jake is born! So far so good!! only 7 more short weeks to go :D

Diabetic

Here is what I know, I have gestational diabetes. It isn't because I am fat, it isn't because I eat wrong. It is because my body has for some reason decided that it doesn't want to process sugar the way it is suppose to. Granted, I am heavier than I use to be, but I am not fat. I know that this was a good thing that I decided to do the test and find all of this out. I need to do what is best for my baby. And if that means changing the way I live and eat, then I will do it. Hopefully this will form a habit in me and I will continue after he is Born to prevent me from getting diabetes in the future. It runs in both sides of my family, so it may be inevitable, but maybe I can prolong it.

GD includes testing my blood sugar 4 times a day, once before I eat in the morning, and 2 hours after every meal, I may be morbid, but I actually think this part is kinda cool. Once I got over the fear of the needle poking my finger, I kinda like being able to see my numbers, and what foods my body reacts to.

And the obvious, limit my sugars and spread them out during the day. Basically the rule of thumb is that I can have 45 carbs a meal, and 15 carbs for snacks. My dietician said to basically fill up on veggies and protein. No soda, no juice, mostly milk and water, but only like a cup of milk at a time, which will be hard for me because when I am pregnant I LOVE milk. But it will be ok. And keep up with my exercising. They also have me taking 500mg of metformin a day to help my body process the sugar the right way so the baby can get the right amount, and I can too.

The good? Well I am now educated and can better take care of my body and be more aware of what I am putting in my body, and what is good for my body. Plus! We get to see baby every dr visit from now until the baby is born, so they can monitor his growth. I have missed this because we got to see Lucy all the time with her condition, so I am excited to be able to see this little guy again, once is just not enough! Lol.

So we will be ok, it's a blessing that I have good doctors and good people in my life who are smart enough to tell me when I am being dumb.

So anyone with awesome yummy recipes, please share, because I need to start making good healthy food!

yes i am getting bigger, and baby is too! I feel like a whale sometimes, but i know I dont look like one lol. He moves a lot, he packs quite a mean punch, I will tell you what! Right now he is breach, but hopefully he will turn in the next couple of weeks. I have opted to go do my 3 hour glucose test this week, better safe than sorry right? i have been having a ton of those fake contractions. Dr told me that if they get to be like 10 minutes apart, then I should head up to the hospital, just to be sure. I have heard that sometimes women are in labor with what they think are braxton hicks, but they are real contractions, which is what I had with Lucy until my water broke, but we still got at least 7 more weeks little guy, so hang in there!!
Other than that, everything is ready for him. Our car was our final thing, I am feeling prepared, but I know when it gets closer I will start freaking out a little more. can't wait!

Everything is getting bigger, our family, my belly, and now our car!

Its true. After test driving a bunch of different cars, and researching a lot online, we finally found a car that was perfect for us. We were driving home from lunch and i just happened to see this car in a car lot at the Subaru dealership and so we decided to pull in a take a look. AS fate would have it, it was EVERYTHING we were looking for, including a price within our budget! We took it for a drive, and then sat down to see some numbers. After about an hour, Tyler was able to talk them up $700 on our trade in and $1,000 down on the car price! So with that, we signed the papers, and I said goodbye to my sweet cobalt. It was my first car and it was a great car, but it is just not practical for our soon to be family of four. So here are pictures of our new to us car....

I am sitting here waiting for my next class, and I started thinking about my life. Sometimes things don't go according to what you had planned, but sometimes they go even better! Remember my post last february, when I hated life. I had just lost a baby and I was majorly depressed and didn't understand why I had to go through that, "why me?". But as I sit here I am honestly so grateful for my life and how everything has worked out.
I have an awesome husband, who is learning more everyday how to be a better father and husband, and he is so great. I love to watch him with Lucy. He lays on the couch and watches her shows, or he plays ball with her. No matter what he is doing he will stop and listen to what she has to say, he is always so kind and patient. During this pregnancy he has really picked up my slack around the house, he does the dishes, takes out the garbage, cleans up whatever mess In the living room, and helps Lucy clean up her toys, just so I don't have to stress about it. Since I am in school he is also helping me with studying and homework too. He is just amazing. We are nearing our anniversary of our first date, and I am just filled with so much love for him. This whole thing started 5 years ago!!
As I am typing this blog I can feel little baby boy moving inside of me. There is no better feeling in the world. I already love him so much, I seriously feel like this was the perfect time for him to come into our lives. I tell you what, the lord knows what he is doing after all :). He is going to be so loved. He has the best big sister in the world who cannot wait to hold him and kiss on him. He has the best 4 grandparents, and so many aunts and uncles that are going to love him. And a mommy and daddy that are so filled with joy that it's ridiculous!
5 years ago I would have never imagined my life turning out this way, but I would not change it for the world. I am so in love with my family, and I don't think they hear that enough. They have been putting up with my crazy hormone changes and being so supportive to me. I am just so grateful to everyone in my life....

Little baby boy is very active these days! I am doing great with my energy levels, keeping up with my prenatal exercise videos from my dr. I have tried to cut out a lot of sugars from my diet and eating less carbs. I have been drinking a lot more water, which makes a huge difference. December is going to be here before we know it! We bought Lucy a little baby of her own, with a bottle and passy, and I made a little bed for it, she is enjoying learning how to be a mom herself, she is so excited for her baby brother to come! Tyler loves to lay his hand on my belly in bed at night and feel the kicks and rolls, it's so sweet. I am just so excited for this blessing, he is already bringing about big changes.

These are from our Pioneer celebration here in Pocatello. What a fun day we had! We went to the parade in the morning, took a break for lunch and then headed over to the fair grounds. Lucy was brave enough to ride a big horse with daddy!

We got to watch Tyler's old roommate, Parker graduate from BYU-I. We were sad since this also meant they were moving to Oregon that same weekend.

We have also had lots of fun in the sun this summer.

Tyler and I both celebrated our birthdays as well!

Lucy and I got to go to Bear lake for my family reunion. These were pretty much the only pictures I got of our trip. Lucy hitting her first piniada! Overall I think we had a pretty fun summer.

My doctor, well my fill in Doctor (because my real one is out of town till the end of the month) called me today and told me some troubling news.
Let me go back a little bit. So when I was like 23 weeks pregnant, I asked Dr if I could do the glucose test early, not that I had any physical concerns, I mean I feel great. But when I was pregnant with Lucy, my levels were high, but not high enough to have to do anything about it, and since I am a bit heavier with this pregnancy, I just wanted to ease my mind. So she said we could go ahead with the test. I passed, but once again my levels were kind of high. She tells me that I am going to have to take it again at the normal 28 weeks just to be sure about everything, but there was no concern at that time.
Last week I went in for my regular check up and my "fill in" doctor (she is a little intense) told me that it was time to take my test again. and they also wanted to do an A1C blood test, to see what my blood sugar has been doing for the last 3 months. So I went in and had all my tests done. Well I got a phone call today from the Nurse telling me that all my blood tests looked really good, except my glucose was still kind of high. ugh... so she proceeds to tell me that they want me to go up to the hospital and do the 3 hour glucose test. And I am not happy about it. I had to do the 3 hour one with Lucy, because I screwed up and ate before the one hour one. Needless to say i am do NOT want to do that again. Making a pregnant woman go through that is torture! I really feel like I am okay, and this is going to be the same story as with Lucy. Just high... but not high enough. I already watch what I eat, and I take my vitamins everyday. I just don't want to do this, because I have a feeling that it is not going to tell them anything.

So my question to you guys, who are reading this... has anyone had gestational diabetes, and are there any physical signs that I should have? Like light headedness, or tiredness, I don't know? Like I said, I feel completely normal. some advice would be great.

Well I haven't been all that great with my blogging lately, blame it on what you may, but mostly it's my laziness! I have been getting my school schedule figured out, which I finally did. I will be taking 3 classes which equates to 9 credits total. Which may not seem like a lot, but you remember I will be in my 3rd trimester!? I will be taking an English class, a computer class, and US history. Baby is due Dec 3rd and finals are from the 10th to the 16th... So I am going to have to convince my teachers to let me take my finals early. But on the plus side, I only have classes on Monday's, Wednesday's and Fridays.

In other news, tylers internship is over! He can officially graduate now, he is still making up his mind whether he wants to walk in the spring or not, but we shall see. I am so proud of him, it is not easy working full time and schooling full time and still having to deal with me in his spare time! Lol! I love him so much and I am so grateful he is working so hard to give us a good life. So since he is taking this semester off to study for the GMAT for graduate school, he will be helping me out, and has already started his first "manly" project.

He is refinishing the kids' dresser. We ended up buying a new crib for baby, it's a 3 in one, so it's very practical, when they get older it can be turned into a full bed. Bt since the toddler bed and the crib are both cherry wood, and the dresser is a very light colored wood, he wanted to refinish it. I said go for it. Haha... I hope it turns out the way he has envisioned.

I have been busy nesting,, I know it's early but I start school on Monday so I wanted to get things done while I have time. Bt I have started to feel a little more tired than usual, I am sure it has nothing to do with the big soccer ball I am carrying around all day long. Haha. Anyway, here is a look at what baby boys crib looks like. And a special thanks to Michelle Harrison and my sister Shanna for all the awesome clothes, he will never have to go naked! And a thanks to everyone who showed up at my baby shower last week, it was so much fun, and I loved having my mom there.

Mixed feelings

First of all sorry about the lack of pictures. Apparently Mac and flash player have some sort of feud and you pretty much need flash for everything photo related. At least that is what I have been told. If you know how I can get around this... Please let me know.
Second, we are going in for our 20 week ultrasound tomorrow morning. I have all sorts of mixed feelings about this. Of course I am so excited to find out if we are going to have another girl or a fun little boy. But this also brings back lots of fears for Tyler and I because this this the day 4 years ago that we found out that Lucy would be born with a diaphragmatic hernia and would need to be in the hospital and have surgery soon after birth. I feel that things will be fine since for us, they usually always turn out okay. We have had to deal with a lot with Lucy, but we would not give her up for the world. We both feel the same way with this one. We feel comforted in knowing that the lord wont give us more than we can handle and even though sometimes I feel like I can't do it anymore, I pull through. We have always made it through everything. Lucy is going to be a great big sister, and we are going to be thrilled with whatever comes boy or girl. We are just praying for a healthy baby, and if it isn't, then we will still feel blessed.

I'm writing this from my new iPad!!! Tyler traded in my MacBook for this and basically paid nothing and I love it! It's pretty Perfect for me since I really do is check mail and Facebook And such so I really don't need anything fancy, but this is kinda fancy lol. It's been a really great birthday so far. Yesterday he took me out to lunch at red robin and then he went shopping with maw to buy a new swim suit, which I finally found one that I love! The he invited his brother and wife down from Rexburg and my best friend, Michelle down for pizza, games, and cake. We had a blast! And tonight my brother Russ and his family are coming down a day early from Montana to take me out for my birthday! I have really felt special this year. Then after all the birthday festivities are over it's time to head to bear lake for our family reunion!! The next post will be some pictures of the last month since I finally have a computer. Love you all and thanks to for all the birthday wishes!!!!!

Round two

For those who don't know, Lucy was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Rheumatoid Arthritis in June of '09. Was declared in remission last November and has been medication free since then. About Two months ago she started flaring up again. She was having morning stiffness, and having trouble walking up and down stairs, and cannot open her mouth wide enough to take bites of food. among other things. So after much prayer and discussion Tyler and I decided to get her back on medications, this was NOT an easy decision.

What a day yesterday was! We left Pocatello around 12:30ish after Tyler got done with his class, and headed to Salt Lake. Lucy was so excited to go see her Doctor... little did she know. we got to Salt Lake at like 3 and Tyler and i decided to introduce ourselves to In and Out Burger, since neither of us had ever been, and all our friend to is RAVE about it. Results: eh.... I know some of you will probably disagree, but I didn't really think it was anything special. I would much rather go to 5 guys, they have way better fries, and you can put whatever you want on your burger! Although the price was great. I would probably go again if given the chance, but not my FAVORITE.

We finally made it to Primary Children's and we checked in, well tried. They told us the wrong Hospital. Dr. Bohnsack was not at Primary Children's that day, he was in Riverton... so they called over there and asked if he would still see us and he said he would. So we drove the extra 40 minutes in rush hour traffic to the Riverton Hospital. It was now 5pm and we were the only ones in that section of the hospital. Last patients of the day.
Bernadett came in (the dr assistant) and checked Lucy out. And suprisingly Lucy did really well with her, this was a huge change from a year ago. She noticed that Lucy had flare ups in her neck, jaw, knees, hands, wrists, and elbows... to name a few. This all happened in a matter of two months. Since Lucy first came in in such bad shape and the disease was so prevelant in her body, that a flare up like this needs drastic, fast action to get her feeling better and also to make sure her joints and bones don't get damaged from the swelling and inflamation. Then we started talking about a plan of action. They put her on 4 different prescriptions. This seems like a lot.. and it is a lot for me to remember. Especially because two of them are everyday! She will be doing the two injections every week that she was on before, Enbrel and Methotrexate. And those will be given sub-cued by me. Lucy gets a little nervous now that she is a little older, but she did really great this morning. Only nervous of the thought of the needle, but after it was done she was fine and realized it wasn't that bad. she is also on a folic acid pill, which I will have to crush up and mix with apple sauce or yogurt every morning - this is supposed to help with symptoms from the Methotrexate like nausea and such. And she will be on Prednisolone everyday for the next 6 weeks. This is a steroid that will probably be the most fast acting to get her to feeling better. The Dr told us that this will also increase her appetite and hopefully help her gain some weight. They were worried about her being so little, she weighed in yesterday at 27 lbs, which is low for a 3 1/2 year old. Especially since a year ago she weighed 23, so she has only gained 4 lbs in a year. But seriously.... she does eat, and we do feed her! She just has a small stomach I guess.

They also wanted to take some blood and do some x-rays, so we headed down to the lab, they kept it open just for us. I was so grateful. Lucy did awesome with the blood work, only cried a little bit and was so excited that she got to get a special band-aid. then we headed over to medical imaging, and this was the rough part of the day. I of course couldn't be in there with her because I am pregnant, I just stood behind a wall and could see through a window what was going on. They got her hips and hands done, but when they moved her into the next room and had to do her neck, she flipped! She was not having those ladies touch her anymore! Yes... she is a red-head, and yes she has a temper and can be so stubborn when she wants to be. I almost started crying I felt so bad. Nothing feels worse than not being able to be there for your child. Tyler could be in there but she was crying for Mommy. But we got through it and she got to hug me all she wanted after it was all done.
Then we headed to See grandpa Haas! What a great treat after a LONG day of Doctors and nurses. we were only able to visit for a couple of hours since it was so late. So we headed home back to Pocatello. we arrived in town about 11:30 so I decided to drop Tyler and Lucy off at home so he could get her in bed, and get some studying done. I went over to the pharmacy to get all her meds. they told me it would be 10-15 minutes, what he should have said was it will be 10-15 minutes for EACH ONE. finally they were done at 12:30am. and I was beat! I went home and straight to bed relieved that my sweet daughter will finally start feeling better and stop hurting.

This was a big decision for me to get her back on medications. I am not a fan of just medicating everything, especially for her being so young, but she went from bad to worse so quickly that I had to do something. There were days in the last two months where Tyler would be helping her get dressed and Lucy would just cry in pain and he would cry along with her because he couldn't bare to see his daughter like this. I think for me it is something that I see and deal with every day, yes I get sad, and have my moments, but it really hits him hard because he doesn't see it as much when he is at work or at school. But we are on the mending track again. and hopefully she will get back in control and her arthritis will yield.
We love you all and are so grateful to feel the love and support. This is an on-going battle that hopefully someday we will win.

Remember our Aero gardens??? Look at them now!! Two and half weeks later, and we are eating our lettuce! Its so freaking delicious! This is about a month and one week of growth.

Yes, we endorse child labor. I finally got the energy to clean up our back deck area. We had all sorts of stuff being stored there, stroller, bike, cardboard boxes, an old, but BIG planting pot (not ours), and LOTS of leaves.

Our Dick's Sporting Goods had its GRAND OPENING today! And if anyone knows my husband, they know that he has been waiting for MONTHS for this. Everytime we go out he makes me drive past to see the progress.

So today was the day. And guess what I got????

A new hat, for family reunion next month, and my FIRST Nalgene water bottle! (we also bought a brita pitcher, since Idaho water is DISGUSTING!) So now, I can make sure I drink enough water EVERY day!! Oh the simple pleasures in life, right??

okay, I may have spoke too soon when I said I was feeling great, because fact is, I couldn't keep any of my food down yesterday. Then I went to bed starving for fear of being up all night barfing! So I got up this morning ate my usual cereal and banana, and now I am just laying in bed waiting for it to hit me. Oh I do not enjoy this part of pregnancy, and I was hopeful or maybe wishfully thinking that I wouldn't have to deal with that this time, since I AM almost out of my 1st trimester (eh hem.... TOMORROW) The thing with me though is, when I am nauseous and feeling crappy, I would rather make myself throw up than be miserable. but then I am always hungry and I feel like it is a waste of food, to just eat and then throw it all back up. Lets just say my life is not so glamourous these days. I am so grateful for my husband though. He has been doing most of the cleaning around here, and a lot of the laundry. I feel so useless, and lazy. Hopefully it will all pass soon and i can just wear my belly proud!

Aero Garden

Its mostly just family that knows about this new adventure, so here I am announcing it to everyone who reads our blog. Tyler's Dad is helping to start up this company selling Aero Gardens. These things are AMAZING! We have two already. They are dirt-less gardens that can go anywhere in your home, and grow and produce within weeks! You just put the pods in with seeds, and fill the bottom with nutrient water and watch them grow before your eyes! You can grow anything from Salad greens, to herbs, to flowers, and even tomatoes (if you like that sorta thing) There is no hassle, and it's small enough to fit anywhere in your home. The great thing about these, is that you can even transfer these into your outside garden as well, which is great for people who live in places where spring comes late.

So Tyler has started this new adventure, although he is still working full time at Convergys, he is going to be working these on the side, getting a second business up and going to maybe bring in some extra $$$. We wanted to wait and share until we actually got ours up and growing, and now it is and we are amazed... so we wanted to SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD!!

This here is our Lavender, it has been growing for about 2 1/2 weeks, they are really getting tall!

I can't wait for the flowers to bloom, our living room is going to smell so yummy!

And these are our salad greens, they have only been growing for a WEEK! look at how delicious they look already! Oh, I am so excited!!!

Peanut

This may be old news.. but here is baby's first ultrasound. its a little peanut in there! We saw and heard it's little heartbeat. The guy said i was actually behind on my calculations, and at this time I was almost 9 weeks, so my Due date has Changed to December 3rd, which is funny, because that was Lucy's EXACT due date (of course she was induced two weeks early) but weird right? Well everyone keeps telling me that that is not a convenient date to have a baby, but HEY I really tried to do it differently this time! Remember... I was pregnant 2 times before this one! So I am sorry... but it will have to do :) We are just happy, we don't care when it is born. I really wish I didn't have to call it an "it".

So far this pregnancy has been bliss compared to Lucy! I haven't been too nauseous, If I am it comes at night, not in the morning. I have only thrown up once from pregnancy (I did get a 24 hour flu in b-ham). With Lucy I was throwing up at all times of the day for the first 4 months! What else? OH! Acne... my skin has never been clearer, seriously not since like middle school. I am loving it. The biggest thing that I have a hard time with, well the two biggest things, is fatigue. I am ALWAYS tired! luckily I have the best husband in the world that gets up with Lucy in the morning, so I can sleep in. I sleep till like 10 and then when like 4pm rolls around, I am so tired again! Lucy is such a trooper, she always tells me "Mom... you can sleep if you want to." She will even go get me a blanket. Sometimes we snuggle together for nap time. And mood swings... well not really swings, it just takes a LOT less for me to freak out, I try so hard to be patient, but its tough these days. Its a blessing that the Lord is giving us this child when Lucy will be old enough to understand things, and be a big help to Mama. She is SO excited to be a big sister. Everything is, "I going to be the big sister.... I better clean my room, cause I am going to be the big sister" hey... if it works... why not?!

Anywho.... I am 13 weeks now, I will be out of my 1st trimester in 3 days, and I am hoping to find out what the gender is the week before family reunion so we will have some news to share!

Trip to Bellingham!

Lucy LOVES her Nana and Papa... what other great-grandparents would get down on the ground and play?? You guys are so great and we miss you so much already!

Uncle CODY! Lucy would wake up every morning and ask me, "Where's my Uncle Cody??"

Mother's day, My Mother-in-law and I both got yellow roses, so we decided to combine them! Look how beautiful!! Her's are the dark ones, mine are the light ones :)

We got to take a day trip in Grandma Jones' car down to Uncle Doug's restaurant, Arnies.

And of course, there was lots of playing with her two favorite cousins... Brooklin and Jackson

AND we met our newest two cousins, Ryan and Lauren, welcome to our crazy family!

And who can forget the infamous fall in Sears? Grandma Haas had this eye mask in her freezer and Lucy insisted on wearing it to make her owie feel better.

All in all it was probably one of the best trips we have had going back to Bellingham. We are so grateful to the Haas family for letting us crash in your spare room for a week and a half. We just had a blast, and can't wait to see everyone again! We miss you all and love you to pieces!!

Little Tuffy

We were bored tonight, so we headed out to Costco to see if we could find anything interesting. And we did!!

We have been looking for an air mattress small enough for Lucy for family reunion, and we found one! this was a good deal too. it has taller sides so she won't fall out in the middle of the night, and it came with this soft fleece sheet too, and a pump! She already loves it... Now I can;t wait for camping out this summer!

Easter 2011

Easters are not usually this elaborate in our house, but Lucy has been asking us for months for a kitchen of her own, so the Easter Bunny got super generous this year. I think it was well worth it though. This kitchen will occupy her for hours, and will be a great learning tool. She loves it!

Baby # 2 is officially on its way! Due Date: aprox Nov. 15th. We are so excited, and cannot wait for our new family member! I was going to wait till Thursday when we get our ultrasound, but if you know me... you know I can't keep it in any longer! I have been holding it in for 5 weeks now! We have already gotten confirmation from the Doctor that my blood work looks good, and I am expanding (a little soon for my liking) but what can you do? I am not very sick at all, this one is night and day compared to Lucy. I have yet to vomit, but I do get nauseous in the morning and at night. We are just excited and can't wait to hear that little heartbeat this week!

Okay, I feel like I should explain myself. Anyone notice that I haven't been updating? Well its because about a month and a half ago the hard drive in my lap top crashed. and we dont exactly have "extra" mula laying around right now, so that is why there are no pictures... And because I have no new pictures, I have no new posts.... Blog posts without pictures are pretty boring, I know you all just want to see Lucy anyway, right?
Well in a couple of weeks we will be getting our tax return and we will be getting my computer fixed, YAY!! so I will be back on track with the blogs then. Thanks for being patient!

Tyler's cousin's son is going down to California for heart surgery this week and I have just been thinking a lot about their family. We are calling for all the prayers we can get for this little guy. If you want to see him and his amazing family check out their blog. Britt and Randy, we will be sending our love and prayers all week! Love you guys!!

Alright... We are really on the weight losing bandwagon now! Here is what we are doing:

1. Counting calories, we know how many calories we need to eat in order to lose weight so we are trying out best to not go over that limit or too far under it. Getting enough calories is just as important as not eating too much.

2. Eating lots of fruits and veggies, WAY more than we use to.

3. Drinking lots of water

4. Not eating ANYTHING after 8pm

5. Going to bed by 11pm

6. Getting up between 8 and 9 every morning

7. We are both participating in Jillian's 30 day shred, which is a hardcore 20 min workout everyday. Plus any other form of workout that we choose.

8. We each are keeping a food and calorie journal to record everything we eat everyday.

9. And we are only weighing ourselves once a week (every Monday)

That's pretty much it. It seems like a lot, but we are helping each other. This is it. We both have goals in mind. One short term... Like how much we want to lose by my family reunion (July 3rd) and then how much more we want to lose by Sept. And then where we want to be by the end of the year. I have thrown out pretty much anything that is tempting or unhealthy in our house. Tyler has gone 3 months without soda, I have gone 2 weeks. I am already seeing a huge difference in my acne (its clearing up) and we both feel so much better. This is something that we have needed to both do for a long time. Tyler for his health, and me for my self confidence. I have been so depressed about myself for a long time now, and I am tired of feeling this way. I want clothes to fit me, I want to feel comfortable in my own body, and Tyler has expressed some of those same feelings as well.

We are gonna be HOT, so look out world!!!

Gettin' Healthy

Our new life. This is pretty big. Neither Tyler or I like veggies very much, and we certainly don't eat enough of them. So tonight I took Lucy to the grocery store and decided it was time for a change. After she went to bed I cut and prepared everything so that it would be easy to get to for snacking and such. So My goal for the week:

Eat all of THIS By next Saturday. And I am going to make this a Saturday tradition.

I also stocked up on V8 fusion drinks (we hate tomatoes) too!

Mmm... I am kinda hungry right now... I think I will go eat some :D

Valentine's Weekend

Tyler took us down to Idaho Falls...

Lucy was so excited to get a balloon at Red Robin!

I was happy that her excitement put her to sleep.... hah!

She finally got her "ba-woon", and it matches her coat!

Some nice old man who was at Red Robin eating by himself, celebrating his birthday, saw Lucy walk in and thought she was so cute, so he sent his free birthday sunday over for her to enjoy!

Tyler thought he must have a sweet spot for red heads like him ;)

It made her day!

Then we went to Target and found this cute purse set, Lucy loved it as you can see!

Then after Lucy went to bed, the babysitter came and Tyler and I went out for our special V-day!

Guess what movie we saw???? I'll give you a hint: every teenage girl in a America wants to marry him.....

BIEBER FEVER!! yes, we went and saw Never Say Never, and LOVED IT!! Even Tyler liked it :D

And today is Valentine's for real... Here is Lucy with her little Valentine's gift from Mommy.

My wonderful Husband is usually so practical. But sometimes he just knows what the right thing to make me feel special is. He has only boughten 3 pieces of jewelry for me in our almost 4 1/2 years of knowing each other. He bought me a diamond journey necklace, our first Christmas, before we were married. And then my wedding ring. Well we went out to dinner to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary and he surprised me with this beautiful necklace! I am one woman who doesn't have to worry about her husband's taste in jewelry. I LOVED it. And it was so sweet and meaningful. I am not a girl that needs to be boughten expensive jewelry, but it came from the man I love and it couldn't have been more perfect. Thank you babe. I love you!

Oh my goodness! I never expected to get so many wonderful comments. Thank you all so much for the love and kind words. They mean more than you know. I am definitely taking this one better than the last, but it still gets to me sometimes and I have to take a moment.

I did go see my Doctor today and they did a pregnancy test and confirmed what I already knew. She did a pelvic exam and a pap-smear since I hadn't had one in a year. She talked to us about my history and all that jazz, and then she said they have an infertility specialist that comes into the office every Wednesday, and if I wanted I could see him. He will basically discuss my options as far as tests to do to determine what is causing my body to not keep the fertilized eggs. Whether it be chromosomal issues or a thyroid issue or whatever else. And he will slao suggest the best options to help us get pregnant and keep it. (since we seem to have problems with both) So I see him next Wednesday. They may have to wait to do tests though, because I still have the pregnancy hormone in my blood, so that could cause conflicting results, I guess? But anyway it will be nice to know what is going on after 2 1/2 years.

In other news: I changed my major. To something I think I will actually use and enjoy, not that cooking wouldn't be something I would use, but I would probably never make a career out of it. So dun dat dat dahhhhh:::::: Psychology. Yep. I am going into Psychology. I will get a 4 year degree and maybe go on to get a PHD. who knows. But what I want to do with it for now, is become a High School counselor. So school will keep me busy at least until I have a baby, whenever that may be, and when I do I will take one semester off to have the baby, and then figure it out as it comes. But I will not quit, I assure you. Moms go to school and raise kids all the time. I am sure I am strong enough to do it. And I really want this for myself. I am already very excited about this coming semester. Tyler and I have a class together (that we can actually go to together) I have class from 9am-1pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. and Lucy is in Daycare from 8:30am-2:30pm those days. I just feel like I can breathe again, and things are finally getting settled after a horrible year. We are happy, and organized, and love it here. We also recognize the daily blessings we receive, and have so much faith that we will add to our family some day. But for now Lucy is such a joy and keeps us laughing and on our toes!

I had another Miscarriage.

Its hard, but I know My Heavenly Father loves me and I know we will get through it together. I know that I will have another chance to have a baby. I am feeling very loved and supported at this time in my life.

We finally got rid of that car payment!! We paid off my car today! This is a GREAT start to our new year! I can feel this is going to be a year of blessings and lots of love. Time to get back on our feet!

We welcome you with OPEN ARMS!! We are praying for a better year. Hopefully we won't have to learn as many lessons (the hard way) no more surgeries, no family drama, we just want a happy and healthy 2011.

I have blogs I need to catch you up on, but here is me and the love of my life on New Years! I couldn't imagine my life with someone else. Tyler is the greatest, my best friend in everything. This year brought us so much closer together. Through every decision and every trial, we have stayed strong together and He is definitely my Best Friend through everything. Cookies and Stockings

Lucy and I LOVE chocolate, and We were positive that Santa would love it too, so we made him Chocolate overload cookies for when he comes to visit tonight!

These are the BEST cookies I have ever made, and they are so EASY. Find the recipe here. I just put crushed peppermint candies and semi-sweet choco chunks instead of the mint truffles. They were still delectable!

Then the classic no-bake cookies. Tyler loves these so we made some of these too! find this recipe here.

AND i finally got our stockings done.. 'Cept now I am wishing I would have put Mom and Dad instead of our real names. We are just not use to being the Mom and Dad I guess :) Oh well... maybe next year, lol

Lucy Meets Santa

We have never taken Lucy to see Santa before, because we just figured there was no point, who wants to make a baby cry over a big white beard? So now that she is 3 and starting to understand things a little better we thought she was ready! And she loved it! She got right up there and sat on his lap and told him that she wanted a Barbie for Christmas!

Then Mrs. Clause came and did a story time. Lucy loved it....

Christmas is coming soon! Hope everyone's happy this season. I know we are being blessed daily. We have so much to celebrate this year!

Lucy's eyes are looking better and better everyday! They actually look a lot better than this picture, this was taken 2 days ago. Dr Elliot says he couldn't be more happy with the positioning of her eyes, so hopefully they will stay that way and we will be safe from any more procedures!

More Houses!

Our friends, Steve and Michelle invited us over to make sugar cookie houses last week! It was so much fun, with their 4 kids and Lucy!

As you can see Lucy enjoyed a little frosting along the way!

Shaelynn did great too! At the end of the night her house was demolished, At one point she was actually taking BITES out of her house. They were all pretty entertaining :)

Lucy's Eye Surgery

What a day! Tyler and I didn't get much sleep last night, we were both pretty worried about how everything was gonna go. We woke up at 6:30am and got to the Rocky Mountain Outpatient Surgery Clinic at about 7:45am. Lucy was admitted and then we waited back in her pre-op room for like an hour. They prepped us and her, they gave her a little cap, and even gave one to her bear too! They were super good with her.

They had lots of toys to keep her entertained while we waited for Dr. Elliot to arrive.

Dr Elliot came and talked to us at like 8:50am and then shortly after that they took her back. we weren't allowed to be in there with her, so we waited out in the waiting room. I slept and Tyler played his computer game. The nurse came and got us at 10am and brought us back to talk to Dr. Elliot. He assured us that she was doing fine and the surgery went great! We were pretty anxious to see Lucy, but we had to wait until she started to wake up from the anesthesia. So about 10:30am the nurse came and got us and we went to her post-op room. When they first gave her to me I was a little scared, her eyes had dried blood all over them. She was pretty out of it. They had just given her some Tylenol for her pain. So she decided to sleep for another hour and 1/2!! We were in no hurry though. I enjoyed just holding my baby in my arms. I don't get to this often :)

They had a free soda and juice machine, and recliners, so we kicked back and waited....

When she woke up she was pretty much back to her normal Lucy ways. She couldn't talk very loud because during the operation she had a tube down her throat. But she wanted to eat and drink right away, we had no problems with throwing up or nausea at all! (thank goodness!)

These are the best pictures I could get of her eyes, she didn't really want to sit still for me. They look pretty freaky, but Dr says they should look better by the end of the week.

For those that don't know, Lucy's eyes were crossing inwards, so she had to have the inside muscles of her eyes repositioned and relaxed so they would be in the right place. Dr. Elliot told us that the muscles were very tight, so the surgery was definitely the right thing to do. He won't know for another 10-12 weeks whether or not he has to do another surgery, because sometimes you can't tell how much you need to move the muscles. So we are just praying he was inspired and we won't have to go through this again! Thanks to everyone for their prayers and fasting. I truly believe that everything went so smoothly today because of you and our Heavenly Father.

So I know Christmas is not about presents, but its really the only time I ever get to think about myself. I am so grateful for everything that we have and for the terrible year that we have had. Yes, I just said I was grateful for the TERRIBLE year we had. We learned a lot of life lessons this year, and we have overcome a lot as a little family of 3. My husband and I agreed to only get each other one present this year, on account of, we have no money ha. But, also so that we can just focus on Christ this year. it will be super special to be home and start our own new traditions. We wish we could be in Bellingham, for two reasons: 1. we would like to help welcome our new niece into the world and 2. we miss our family.

BUT if you were wondering what I wanted for Christmas....
